Online psychology that fits your life

Getting to an appointment can be difficult when travel, work, caring responsibilities or distance get in the way. Meyer Institute offers online psychology sessions by video and phone appointments where clinically suitable. You can speak with a registered psychologist from home or another private space, whether you live in a city, regional community or rural Australia.

Telehealth is the name for a health appointment delivered remotely. A video psychology session lets you and your psychologist see and hear each other. A telephone psychology session may be an alternative when video is impractical or unsuitable. We discuss the format that fits your needs before confirming an appointment.

What would you like support with?

You can enquire about psychological therapy for anxiety, stress, low mood, grief, adjustment, relationship difficulties, trauma-related concerns or work-related distress. Your psychologist considers your circumstances and discusses an evidence-based approach suited to your goals. There is no need to know the name of a therapy approach before contacting us.

If you need assessment or reporting, tell us what the assessment is for. Some interviews, questionnaires and other assessment components may be completed remotely. Standardised testing can have specific requirements, and not every assessment is suitable by video or phone. We confirm the appropriate format, scope and fees before you proceed.

Video sessions, Zoom and Microsoft Teams

Video sessions need a reliable internet connection, a camera and microphone, and a private space. Tell us if you prefer Zoom or Microsoft Teams when you enquire. We will confirm the available, appropriate platform and send clear joining instructions before your appointment. If phone sessions would suit you better, choose Phone on the enquiry form.

Your next step is simple

1. Send a short enquiry or call 0423 811 994. Choose video, phone or Not sure.

2. We contact you to discuss availability, suitability and fees.

3. Once your appointment is confirmed, we send the practical details so you know what to expect.

Fees explained before you book

The standard psychology session fee is $195. Eligible rebates or approved funding may apply, depending on your circumstances, referral and the service. We explain the applicable fee and any gap before you book. Formal assessments and reports are quoted separately. You do not need a referral just to send an enquiry.

A private space and a clear plan

Choose somewhere you can speak privately. Headphones can help, and you can tell us about access or technology needs when you enquire. We discuss privacy, consent and what to do if the connection drops before the session. If telehealth is not suitable, we discuss the next practical option.

Ready to take the next step?

Sending an enquiry does not commit you to an appointment.

FAQs

Is an online psychologist the same as a telehealth psychologist?

“Online” and “telehealth” both describe receiving psychological care remotely. Video psychology sessions use a video connection; phone psychology sessions use a telephone. The psychologist discusses suitability and the session format with you.

Can I have psychology sessions by phone?

Phone appointments may be available where appropriate for your needs. Select Phone or Not sure when you enquire. Your psychologist will confirm whether a phone session is suitable and explain any referral or funding requirements.

Do you use Zoom or Microsoft Teams?

Tell us your preferred video platform. We confirm the available, appropriate platform and send joining instructions before the appointment. You do not need to choose a platform before sending the form.

What do I need for a video psychology session?

A private space, a device with a camera and microphone, and a reliable internet connection. Headphones can be helpful. If technology is a concern, let us know so we can discuss the available options.

Do I need a referral or mental health treatment plan?

You can send an enquiry without a referral. If you wish to claim an eligible Medicare rebate, referral and eligibility requirements apply. We can explain what is needed before you book. Video and phone rebate rules can differ.

Can I access telehealth from regional or rural Australia?

You can enquire from across Australia, including regional and rural communities. We confirm appointment availability, your location and whether telehealth is suitable before booking.

Can assessments and reports be completed online?

Some assessment interviews, questionnaires and other components may be suitable remotely. Certain standardised tests or assessment purposes require a different format. We confirm the scope, format and separate quote before an assessment begins.

What happens after I send the form?

We receive your enquiry and contact you through your selected reply method to discuss availability and next steps. Your appointment is confirmed separately. Please call if you prefer to speak with the practice.
