Already approved, claim pending or not sure?

Psychology already approved

If psychology has already been approved, provide your claim number, insurer or claims contact, approval letter or referral details so the intake team can confirm the next step.

Claim lodged but approval unclear

If your claim has been lodged but psychology approval is unclear, complete the form and upload any certificate, referral or insurer correspondence. Meyer Institute can review what information appears to be missing.

No claim yet

If no claim has been lodged, the usual first step is to see your GP or treating doctor and ask about the correct certificate and claim process for QLD.

Referrer submitting documents

GPs, rehabilitation providers, case managers and insurers can use the referral partner portal to upload claim details, reports, approvals and referral documents.

How the pathway usually works

Step 1:

See your GP or doctor for a Work Capacity Certificate and discuss whether psychology is recommended.

Step 2:

Lodge or confirm your WorkCover Queensland claim and provide the claim number if available.

Step 3:

Tell us whether psychology is already approved, pending, early support/provisional support, or unsure.

Step 4:

We review your claim status, documents and appointment suitability before confirming the next step.

What helps us process your enquiry quickly

You do not need every document before contacting Meyer Institute. However, if you have any of the following, include them in the form or upload them securely.

  • WorkCover Queensland claim number

  • Work Capacity Certificate

  • GP referral or medical recommendation

  • approval letter or case manager email

  • self-insurer details if not WorkCover Queensland

  • case manager or rehab provider details

Appointment options

Telehealth across Queensland where clinically suitable and accepted by the funding pathway. In-person Melbourne locations should not be promoted as a Queensland in-person option.

Appointment availability, telehealth suitability, reporting requirements and billing pathway will be confirmed after the intake team reviews your enquiry.

For GPs, rehabilitation providers, case managers and insurers

Referral partners can use the WorkCover Psychology Referral Portal to submit client details, claim information, certificates, approval letters, treatment requests and supporting reports.

FAQs

Do I need a Work Capacity Certificate in Queensland?

Before making a workers compensation claim with WorkCover Queensland or a self-insurer, workers usually need a Work Capacity Certificate from a doctor.

Can WorkCover Queensland fund early mental health treatment while a mental injury claim is assessed?

WorkCover Queensland information indicates early mental health treatment may be paid before a mental injury claim is decided in some circumstances. The exact pathway depends on WorkCover Queensland or the relevant self-insurer.

Is there a gap fee?

Only use no-gap wording if Meyer Institute has verified the claim is eligible, psychology is approved and direct billing at the relevant rate is operationally available. Otherwise, state that billing will be confirmed before appointment.

Can I use telehealth?

Telehealth may be suitable for many Queensland workers compensation psychology clients, subject to clinical suitability and funding approval.
