FAS Psychology Reports
Psychological Report Enquiries for the Financial Assistance Scheme
If FAS, a lawyer or another authorised referrer has requested a psychological report, Meyer Institute can review the purpose, questions, due date, pre-authorisation and clinician fit before accepting the work.
-
Scope checked before acceptance
-
Pre-authorisation and fees confirmed
-
Applicant and referrer pathways
-
Sensitive documents requested only through an approved secure route
Important report distinction
A treating psychologist’s progress or counselling report is different from an independent, non-treating psychological assessment. Not every matter requires a report, and the requested author, questions, evidence, format and fee approval must be clear before work begins.
FAS publishes report templates and may require a specific template when it requests or pre-authorises a report. Meyer Institute will not promise a report conclusion or accept an instruction that compromises professional independence.
Information to have ready
For an initial report enquiry, tell us:
-
whether the enquiry is from the applicant, FAS, a lawyer or another authorised referrer
-
the type and purpose of report requested
-
whether FAS has requested or pre-authorised it
-
the report questions, due date and approved fee, if known
-
whether the proposed author is a treating or non-treating psychologist
-
the applicant’s authority for Meyer Institute to liaise with the referrer
Report workflow
1. Enquiry and authority: we identify the applicant, referrer and authority to communicate.

2. Scope review: a clinician reviews the report type, questions, due date, records and independence requirements.

3. Written acceptance: the practice confirms whether it can accept the work, what is included, the fee/approval basis and expected timing.
4. Assessment and report: appointments, collateral material and reporting proceed under the agreed scope. Conclusions remain the clinician’s independent professional opinion.
FAQs
Does every FAS counselling matter need a report?
No. A report should be prepared only when clinically or administratively required and when the scope and payment arrangement are clear.

Can I upload my records here?
No. The first form does not accept sensitive records. If the enquiry is accepted for review, the practice will provide instructions for an approved secure transfer route.

Can you guarantee what the report will say?
No. A psychologist must form an independent professional opinion from the available information and assessment.

Can my treating psychologist write the report?
Sometimes the requested report is a treating/counselling report; other instructions may require a non-treating assessor. The referrer and practice must clarify the purpose and author role.

How long will the report take?
Timing depends on scope, records, appointments, clinician availability and written approval. A due date is not accepted until the practice confirms it in writing.

What fees apply?
FAS publishes fee schedules and may specify an approved amount. Meyer Institute will confirm the applicable scope and payment arrangement before accepting the instruction.
