NSW Workers Compensation / SIRA Psychology

Workers Compensation Psychologist NSW

Meyer Institute accepts enquiries from NSW workers, GPs, rehabilitation providers and case managers seeking psychology support for work-related psychological injury, workplace trauma, stress, adjustment difficulties, pain-related distress and return-to-work concerns.

NSW workers compensation psychology usually requires the correct insurer pathway and provider requirements, including SIRA requirements where applicable.

NSW wording must be conservative. Only use SIRA-approved psychologist if the specific treating psychologist is verified as SIRA-approved for NSW workers compensation. If not verified, use subject to SIRA provider requirements and insurer approval.

Already approved, claim pending or not sure?

Psychology already approved

If psychology has already been approved, provide your claim number, insurer or claims contact, approval letter or referral details so the intake team can confirm the next step.

Claim lodged but approval unclear

If your claim has been lodged but psychology approval is unclear, complete the form and upload any certificate, referral or insurer correspondence. Meyer Institute can review what information appears to be missing.

No claim yet

If no claim has been lodged, the usual first step is to see your GP or treating doctor and ask about the correct certificate and claim process for NSW.

Referrer submitting documents

GPs, rehabilitation providers, case managers and insurers can use the referral partner portal to upload claim details, reports, approvals and referral documents.

FAQs

Do NSW workers compensation psychologists need SIRA approval?

NSW has specific SIRA approval requirements for treating allied health practitioners providing specified services in the workers compensation scheme. Do not assume a provider can deliver NSW workers compensation treatment until provider suitability and approval status are confirmed.

What if I search for WorkCover psychologist NSW?

Many people still use the term WorkCover, but the current NSW pathway is usually described as NSW workers compensation, SIRA, icare and insurer-managed treatment.

What documents should I upload?

Upload your Certificate of Capacity, claim number, insurer or icare details, referral, approval emails and any Allied Health Treatment Request if available.

Can Meyer Institute guarantee insurer approval?

No. Insurer approval, SIRA requirements and payment decisions are determined by the relevant NSW scheme and insurer pathway.
