Collaborative Support for Wellbeing, Identity & Everyday Life

Autism-Informed Psychological Support

Autism-informed support respects autistic ways of communicating, sensing, thinking and relating.

It focuses on the person’s goals, wellbeing and access needs rather than removing harmless autistic traits or forcing performative normality.

  • How anxiety, burnout, relationships or change can be approached

  • How supporters may be involved with consent

How the pathway usually works

  • Agree communication and access preferences.

  • Identify the person’s goal, load, strengths and environment.

  • Reduce barriers and excessive demands before adding complex strategies.

  • Practise, review and adapt supports collaboratively.

What this service does not promise

The goal is not cure, forced eye contact, masking or normalisation. Family involvement must protect the person’s voice, privacy and autonomy.

FAQs

Do you try to make autistic people appear less autistic?

No. Support targets distress, barriers and meaningful goals, not harmless traits.

Do I need a diagnosis?

Not always for private support, though funding and suitability vary.

Can sessions be adapted?

Where possible, communication, sensory, pacing and support-person needs can be discussed.

Can you help with burnout?

Support may address load, recovery, masking and sensory demands while considering other contributors.
