ACT Workers Compensation / WorkSafe ACT Psychology
ACT Workers Compensation Psychologist
Meyer Institute accepts ACT workers compensation psychology enquiries from workers, GPs, rehabilitation providers and case managers seeking support for workplace psychological injury, stress, trauma, adjustment difficulties, pain-related distress and return-to-work concerns.
The ACT private sector workers compensation scheme is insurer-managed, and some ACT workers may instead fall under Commonwealth / Comcare pathways.
ACT page must clearly say WorkSafe ACT regulates the scheme but does not provide insurance or decide claims. Add a Comcare checker in the form because many ACT workers may be Commonwealth workers.

Already approved, claim pending or not sure?
Psychology already approved
If psychology has already been approved, provide your claim number, insurer or claims contact, approval letter or referral details so the intake team can confirm the next step.
Claim lodged but approval unclear
If your claim has been lodged but psychology approval is unclear, complete the form and upload any certificate, referral or insurer correspondence. Meyer Institute can review what information appears to be missing.
No claim yet
If no claim has been lodged, the usual first step is to see your GP or treating doctor and ask about the correct certificate and claim process for ACT.
Referrer submitting documents
GPs, rehabilitation providers, case managers and insurers can use the referral partner portal to upload claim details, reports, approvals and referral documents.

How the pathway usually works
Step 1:
See your nominated treating doctor for a Certificate of Capacity.

Step 2:
Complete the claim form and provide it with the certificate through the employer/insurer pathway.

Step 3:
Tell us the insurer, claim number, approval status and whether the worker may be covered by Comcare.

Step 4:
We review whether the ACT insurer or Comcare pathway applies and what approval is needed before psychology can commence.

FAQs
Does WorkSafe ACT decide my psychology approval?
WorkSafe ACT regulates the ACT private sector workers compensation legislation but does not provide insurance or make claim decisions. Approved insurers or self-insurers manage the claim pathway.

What if I am a Commonwealth employee in Canberra?
You may be covered by Comcare rather than the ACT private sector scheme. The form should ask whether the worker is Commonwealth/Comcare covered.

What documents help?
A Certificate of Capacity, claim number, insurer details, referral or treatment recommendation, and approval emails are helpful.

Can Meyer Institute assist before approval?
You can submit an enquiry before approval, but whether treatment can proceed under workers compensation depends on the relevant insurer, self-insurer or Comcare decision.
