How WorkCover Queensland access works (simple steps)
Step 1 — See your doctor
WorkCover requires a Work Capacity Certificate to make a claim, and claims aren’t valid without a complete certificate. WorkSafe Queensland
Step 2 — Lodge your claim
You can lodge online, by phone, or via the claim form options described by WorkCover. WorkSafe Queensland
Important update: From 1 July 2025, WorkCover no longer automatically registers a claim just because a doctor sends a work capacity certificate—workers generally need to make the claim themselves using the certificate.
Step 3 — Access early mental health treatment
If your claim involves a mental injury, WorkCover can provide funded mental health treatments while they assess the claim
Step 4 — We coordinate with your team
With your written consent, we can liaise with your GP, rehab provider, and insurer to support recovery goals.
